If you were enrolled in Health Care Spending Account (HCSA) in 2022, but enroll in the high deductible health plan (HDHP) for 2023, please take note of this important information.
- The Health Savings Account (HSA) complements your HDHP. In order for your new HSA to be opened and funded on Jan. 1, 2023, your HCSA account balance must be at $0 (zero) on Dec. 31, 2022.
- If your HCSA account does not have a $0 (zero) balance on Dec.31, 2022, your HSA will not be opened until April 1, 2023.
- If you are unable to spend all of your HCSA funds by Dec. 31, 2022, Lockheed Martin allows a grace period to spend HCSA funds and incur expenses through March 15, 2023.
- You will still be able to take advantage of the run-out period allowed, meaning you can submit 2022 HCSA claims and 2023 claims incurred through March 15, 2023, for reimbursement through April 30, 2023.
